Ethanol Extraction: Raw propolis is soaked (macerated) in high-proof food-grade ethanol. The alcohol acts as a powerful solvent that breaks down the resin and dissolves the active, beneficial compounds—like flavonoids and polyphenols—while leaving behind the insoluble wax and waste.

Dehydration / Evaporation: To turn this liquid into a true concentrate, the ethanol is evaporated out of the mixture.

Once the alcohol is completely cooked off, a thick, highly concentrated resinous extract or powder remains.

I blend the propolis conc. with lanolin, cocoa butter, vit E. and Lemon Grass EO.

• Allergic Reactions: Propolis can trigger contact dermatitis, hives, or severe allergic responses in people who are allergic to bees, honey, or conifer/poplar tree resins. 

• Concentration Check: Because an ointment is concentrated, it is best to perform a small patch test on your inner forearm before applying it to larger or sensitive areas of skin.
